There are many famous ship
"approaches" that CruiseMon savors around the world - the arrival
past the Statue in Liberty in New York, under the Towers Bridge
in London. In the Caribbean, Curacao reigns: the ship turns
inward towards the island from the south, then passes under
the Juliana Bridge, then glides along St. Anna Bay Channel directly
through the heart of downtown Willemsted, the massive cruise
ship towering above small rickety boats which have traveled
across from Venezuela each morning to partake in the city's
famed Floating Market. Then, when ashore, you'll find yourself
on a kind of South-of-the-Border replica of Amsterdam, with
well-kept rows of pastel-colored houses. This is an island which
is decidedly Caribbean, but at the same time, staunchly Dutch.
